In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling technology solutions that streamline the loan collections lifecycle. You will work on developing reliable backend services, APIs and user-facing features that enable efficient repayment tracking, collections management and automation of collection workflows. You will collaborate with product managers, designers and senior engineers to build solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance repayment experiences and support the scalability of our lending business.What would you do at Khatabook?Build and Scale Backend Services: Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs that support lending and collections workflows.Develop Collections Solutions: Build technology solutions for repayment tracking, payment status updates, collection workflows and automation of operational processes.Full-Stack Development: Work across backend services and frontend applications, contributing to user-facing features and internal tools using technologies such as React and TypeScript.End-to-End Feature Ownership: Take ownership of assigned features across requirement understanding, development, testing, deployment and production monitoring.System Reliability & Performance: Write clean, maintainable and efficient code while debugging issues, improving application performance and ensuring system reliability.AI-First Development: Leverage AI-powered developer tools such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot to improve development productivity, code quality and engineering efficiency.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, operations teams and senior engineers to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.What are we looking for?1–2 years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably building backend services using Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript or similar technologies.Good understanding of REST APIs, backend development, microservices architecture and database fundamentals.Working knowledge of frontend technologies such as React, JavaScript and TypeScript.Understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including writing queries and designing database schemas.Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming and problem-solving.Familiarity with Git, debugging, testing and basic deployment practices.Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS and containerisation tools like Docker/Kubernetes would be an added advantage.Willingness to explore and adopt AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar tools.Strong ownership mindset, execution orientation and willingness to learn and take up challenging problems.Good written and verbal communication skills.
