About the role

The Software Engineer (Backend) is part of the Engineering team and reports to the BE Lead. Remote (India), full-time.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services and robust APIs
• Define and implement robust API contracts to ensure seamless data integration with consuming services (e.g., frontend applications)
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance of backend systems, data pipelines, and database queries
• Architect, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS services, focusing on scalability and reliability
• Document system and service configurations and procedures
• Review code rigorously, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality and maintainability

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience developing scalable backend systems using object-oriented languages such as Python, Java, or Go
• Deep experience with relational and NoSQL databases — schema design, query optimization, and management (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
• Solid understanding of system architecture, distributed systems, and designing for performance, security, and high availability
• Proven experience designing, building, and documenting RESTful and/or gRPC APIs
• Strong experience with Django and Django REST Framework
• Strong experience with AWS cloud for infrastructure management and service deployment
• Experience implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and logging for production environments
• Design, develop, and deploy containerized microservices on AWS platforms like ECS or Fargate
• Automation champion — Terraform or CloudFormation for provisioning, deployment, and management of infrastructure and microservices

Nice to haves: DevOps practices and CI/CD tools; Docker; message queuing or streaming systems (Kafka, SQS); passion for staying current with backend technologies.
